Here are some ready-to-use writing activities with a Christmas theme for your first or second graders! Christmas Draw and Write Prompts can be used for guided writing lessons, for writing centers, for a Christmas writing journal, or as an extra activity for early finishers. Drawing about the prompt prior to writing helps students focus on the topic and organize thoughts as a “pre-writing” activity. Each prompt is on a page with clip art in a space for drawing at the top and writing lines at the bottom. A second full writing page is provided with coordinating clip art for those students who can write more.
Here are the specific prompts included in this resource:
What would you give Santa for Christmas?
Where does Santa go on his summer vacation?
What kind of cookies would you back with Mrs. Claus?
What kind of toy does Alfie the Elf make?
What little presents are in these Christmas stockings?
How would you decorate a Christmas tree?
Where would you go in Santa’s sleigh?
What would you see at the North Pole?
What is your favorite Christmas movie or TV show?
What is your favorite Christmas book?
