Have some Christmas cheer with these alphabetical order activities. Begin with a printable color or blackline ABC order poster to use all year long as a reference. Move on to sorting cards for a more concrete understanding of ABC order. A mix of simple sorting by beginning letter, to the second letter and finally to the third letter has a few snuck in there. Perfect for word work in reading and writing centers.
On the left side you’ll see an easy version of ABC order, and on the right a more challenging version. Not just for December!
Print on cardstock for durability and repeated use. Sort the cards that belong between A-L and those that belong between M-Z in alphabet order. In color and black and white versions.
Cut and sort the picture names in ABC order from first to last. The reindeer ones are more challenging as they are sorted by the second or third letter of each name.
Students are given a themed word bank. They will write the words in abc order, and then illustrate the word by drawing and coloring underneath each word.
Students will write their wish list on the left as a sloppy copy, not in abc order. Then, they will write their list in abc order on the right as a final list.
