This resource (designed for ELLs - see my elementary listing for a non-ESL lesson plan) includes:
- two reading texts; the first, written at a grade 5 reading level, is a numbered 5 paragraph 313-word text that discusses the origins of Christmas traditions and comes with a comprehension activity.
- the second text, also written at a grade 5 reading level, has five paragraphs of 265 words and is about how Christmas is celebrated in Canada. It comes with a grammar exercise (using adjectives of amount and time) based on the text.
- each text has a vocabulary lists, Fast Facts, and a complementary group activity for discussing and recording students' impressions of Christmas.
- answer sheets are included.
The resource is illustrated with graphics or photos that print well in black and white.
