Designed for ESL, this resource includes:
Two reading texts:
- the first text is written at a grade 6 reading level, is a numbered five paragraph 378-word text that discusses the origins of Christmas traditions and comes with a comprehension activity. -- the second text, also written at a grade 6 reading level, has five paragraphs (334 words) about how Christmas is celebrated in Canada. It has a comprehension activity using the vocabulary words for that text.
-also included are: vocabulary lists for each text, Fast Facts for each text, and a complementary group activity for discussing and recording students' impressions of Christmas.
-answer keys are included.
This resource is illustrated with graphics or photos that print well in black and white.
Levels 1 and 3 can be purchased bundled (see my store). I also have a similar plan for non-ESL elementary students. This product has also been bundled with 3 other Canadian celebration units for Terry Fox, Remembrance Day, and Valentine's Day all at level 2.
