Product Description

This activity is an in-depth, 5-act, 25-role reader's theater script for Columbus Day! The script is research-based and historically accurate, focusing on the life of Christopher Columbus and his complicated legacy. This script is great for classes studying American history or as an activity for Language Arts class. Reader's Theater is an engaging instructional strategy for students that allows them to act out various historical scenes. This product also helps build fluency and reading comprehension skills.

The acts are as follows:

Act I: Finding a Trade Route to Asia

Act II: The New World

Act III: A Second Voyage

Act IV: Becoming a Prisoner

Act V: Historical Legacy

Each act includes discussion questions. There is a quiz for students at the conclusion of the play, as well as an extension activity in which students will create their own script through research for Indigenous Peoples Day!
