PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In honor of Columbus Day and to correspond with classroom discussion on the Age of Exploration, this weeklong assignment gives students the chance to really understand Christopher Columbus’s life and how his actions shape our view of him today. In this trial, students are asked whether they think Christopher Columbus is a hero or a villain. While working on the trial, students will become familiar with not only details about Columbus and his life, but also information about King Ferdinand, Queen Isabella, Leif Eriksson, and several other key figures. They will also practice conducting research, collaborating with others, and thinking critically, since they will have to decide their own viewpoint about Columbus amidst evidence and testimony from both sides.
