These are my notes on Spain colonizing the New World.
The notes cover Christopher Columbus, King Ferdinand, Queen Isabella, the Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria, the East Indies, Amerigo Vespucci, Hernan Cortes, Conquistadors, Tenochtitlan, Francisco Pizarro, Encomienda System, Mestizos, and the Columbian Exchange.
How do you use this product? I make copies of the notes and distribute them to the students. I then pass out the questions that go with the notes. The students must read the notes in order to answer the questions. You can also upload the notes and questions onto your Canvas or teaching web page.
After the students finish answering the questions, I go over the lesson with a PowerPoint presentation.
You can buy the PowerPoint that goes with these notes here:
Christopher Columbus (PowerPoint)
You can modify the notes to your own needs. If you want to add something, you can. If you want to take something out, you can. The work is doable and the students will learn.
This work has been used in my classroom for 15 years and is ready for you to take straight to the copier.
