I start the lesson by reading a story by Rozanne Lanczak Williams 'Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?'
Identify three culprits: Mouse, Queen, and Snake
(To prepare beforehand: put each culprit name on three different ink pens. According to the book, the snake is the culprit, so create a note using the snake's pen 'I took the cookies from the cookie jar!')
Children can then do the chromatography experiment and find the culprit on their own! They use the worksheet to record their findings, they color the result that they see and identify who's the culprit
The lesson ends by finishing the story and finding out if the children got the real culprit or not
