This 47-page packet contains detailed lesson plans and materials for 4 sessions for either small or large groups; instructions and opportunities to address social skills such as understanding other's feelings and the use of put-downs; a comprehension activity; and 2 games for practicing /l/ sounds in both single words and in short sentences. It is appropriate for ages 4-7.
The lesson plans include repetitive readings of the story; a discussion about teasing; a picture walk to set up the story; print, letter and word identification; comparison of long and short words; questions presented throughout the second reading to facilitate comprehension; story elements; 3 levels of story maps; and story retell using a cloze procedure.
The supplemental activities include a game board, multiple choice comprehension cards, and True or False Comprehension cards. There are two articulation games: “Perfect”-- /l/ in single words, and “Go Chrysanthemum”-- /l/ in short sentences.
