This lesson plan can be used to teach both standards:
• Literacy.RF.2.3 Know and apply grade level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
• Social Studies: 2.G.1.2 Interpret the meaning of symbols and the location of physical and human features on a map (cities, railroads, highways, countries, continents, oceans, etc.).
(The SS standard is a NC Essential Standard.)
