Product Description
This multi-purpose slide show explores church architecture throughout history as well as explaining the religious significance of evolving styles. Students will see
how early Christian architectural styles went in different directions after the Great Schism
how the weight and simplicity of Byzantine and Romanesque architecture was spread through monasticism
how architecture soared to new heights and decorative detail during the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras
how the revivals of historical styles in the 18th and 19th centuries eventually gave way to the stark lines of Modernism.
I have used this slide show in junior high school to explore art, architecture, history and religion. Each of the 42 slides in this show illustrate examples of the different styles of architecture. The download is available as an Apple Keynote, a Microsoft PowerPoint, and as a Quicktime movie. (Note QuickTime Movie may not play without additional software.)
