Make sure to download the preview to access your FREE Cinco de Mayo original poem.
Your students will love celebrating Cinco de Mayo with this interactive project board/lapbook craftivity. Primary students can practice reading the poem or learning a little about Mexico's flag and culture. Older students can do a close read on the history of Cinco de Mayo and find evidence in the text to determine if statements are facts or opinions as well as look for unfamiliar words to define. In addition, they can do some research on Mexico to complete a poster report on that country. Mix and match the variety of options provided to differentiate and create a board that best fits your students' needs.
No time to create a project board or lapbook? These activities make perfect additions to interactive notebooks. Simply use the informational text as a close reading passage and complete the activities that go with it. Students then color, cut, and glue the finished activities into their interactive notebooks.
The project board can be completed with or without the craft. Most of the activities can be completed independent of the project board /lapbook as well.
When completed, this project board makes a great tabletop or desk display. It can also be hung from the ceiling so both sides are visible. In addition, it makes a great bulletin board or hallway display.
All of the pieces shown in the photographs of the craft as well as some additional options have been included in this download, so it can be differentiated across several grade levels.
