Learn Spanish vocabulary words for Cinco de Mayo! Learn about the history of the Battle of Puebla, too! This unit has lesson plans, vocabulary cards, small matching cards, worksheets, a 2-page informational reading passage with comprehension questions, and a 16-page mini-book to read and color.
This unit includes a 2-page informational text reading passage about the history of the Battle of Puebla and the development of the Cinco de Mayo holiday that can be used as a read-aloud or as a close read by the students. The text has comprehension questions. You could also use the nonfiction text as a separate activity without introducing the Spanish vocabulary words in the rest of this unit.
You get full page, full color vocabulary cards that show each of the Spanish vocabulary word with a picture. There are four sets of smaller cards: the Spanish word with the picture, the Spanish word without the picture, the English word, and just the pictures without words.
Your students will learn: los batalla/the battle, los solados/the soldiers, la fiesta, la música, el sombrero, la piñata, las maracas, recordar/remember, comer/eat, celebrar/celebrate, cinco/five, and mayo/May.
There are four worksheets to practice the introduced vocabulary.
There is also a 16-page "pequeño libro" mini-book about Cinco de Mayo to practice using the target vocabulary.
