This Cinco de Mayo Activity packet is a great resource filled with reading passages, math activities, a word search, Suduko puzzles and an art project. Students will enjoy learning about Cinco de Mayo while reviewing important learned reading and math skills.
This packet includes the following activities:
Cinco de Mayo passage: Students will read a non-fiction passage on Cinco de Mayo and answer comprehension questions and make a text-to-self connection.
Sentences: Students will write sentences using key words related to Cinco de Mayo.
The Gila Monster: Students will read a non-fiction passage on the Gila Monster and answer comprehension questions on this venomous lizard that is found in parts of Mexico and the United States.
Converting Units of Measurement: Students will be required to convert customary and metric units of measurement including length, capacity, and weight.
Fraction Taco: Students will be required to subtract fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators.
Order of Operations: Students will solve equations using the order of operations. They will use their answers to fill in a numbered chart to reveal a mystery picture.
Word Search: Students will find Cinco de Mayo related words in a word search.
Sudoku: Students will be challenged by completing this number puzzle. A 6x6 grid and a 9x9 grid of the Sudoku puzzle is included.
Mosaic Art: Students will learn how mosaic art is created and about avocados (A fruit used to make a Mexican popular dip called guacamole.)
