Looking for a way to practice rhythms AND enjoy Cinco de Mayo in the elementary music classroom? These rhythm activities on Google Slides allow students to read rhythms, fill in measures, and compose-- all in FIVE BEAT measures for Cinco de Mayo.
In these Google Slides activities, students will participate in 4 different rhythm activities. They will read and play rhythms, fill in rhythms to create a full measure, compose 5 beat measures, and play one of our favorite games-- two truths and a lie! In Two Truths and a Lie, students will look at 3 measures and determine which one does NOT have 5 beats.
All 20 slides are measures in 5/4.
In order to drag the rhythms in this digital activity, students will need to be in EDIT MODE. That means do NOT click present. To do this, make sure every students gets their own copy.
All activities are available in regular and stick notation, as well as all four rhythm levels:
- Level 1: Quarter note, eighth notes, rest
- Level 2: Half notes, sixteenth notes
- Level 3: Syncopa, dotted half notes, dotted quarter notes, single eighth notes
- Level 4: Dotted eighth-sixteenth, triplet, sixteenth-eighth patterns
All rhythms are also included in stick notation.
