Hands-on games captivate learners and "Bedmas Buddies" actively engages students to practice and learn how to solve math problems with multiple operations, both confidently and successfully.
In order to solve a problem with multiple operations, students MUST learn that there is an order to follow ie. a specific set of rules! The popular acronym, many teachers and students refer to when solving math problems is called BEDMAS.
Bedmas is an effective way to remember the procedures and steps involved, as to "what order to do the work in".
BEDMAS BUDDIES is a tried and tested, true, "hands-on" activity, enjoyed and requested by students, teachers and parents.
This domino "Order of Operations" game encourages students to "think about the math".
Teach the simple rules in 5-10 minutes and watch and listen to the learning, as they play.
Use the smart board as a great visual for demonstration and then walk around your classroom and "listen to and observe the learning".
There are multiple game boards (all different) - so this game can be played and re-visited, all year long.
The black-line master copies also allow this to be a wonderful homework extension activity.
