This resource provides inviting Cinco de Mayo themed math centers for learners to practice subtraction facts to 10. There are 5 subtraction clip card math centers activities in this packet. Each activity has 12 cards and a recording sheet. There is a subtraction fact and a choice of three differences printed on each card. The cards and recording sheet have matching graphics.
Print, laminate, and cut out the clip cards. Print the recording sheet that goes with the cards. You will need 12 clothespins for each center. To keep with the Cinco de Mayo theme, I put the cards and clothespins in a tortilla warmer from a dollar store.
Learners clip a clothespin on the correct difference or they can use dry erase markers to circle the correct difference. You may opt to make these cards self-checking by writing the answer on the back or marking a dot on the back at the correct spot.
After selecting the correct difference, learners write the equation and difference on the recording sheet.
These math centers help learners develop subtraction fluency and supports the Math Common Core Standards for Operations and Algebraic Thinking.
Thank you for looking at this resource. I hope you and your learners enjoy these activities.
