Share the key names and main ideas of The Battle of Puebla, also known as Cinco de Mayo in a fun and memorable way.
I created this simple word search as a post-lesson activity for my Cinco de Mayo lesson although it could also be a great warm-up, differentiation tool, or a reward for you students.
In this download you get:
1. An abridged word search that contains the key names, places, and main ideas associated with the Battle of Puebla. (Benito Juarez, Napoleon III, Ignacio Zaragoza, war debts, Veracruz, etc.)
The terms are organized chronologically from left-to-right in a way that promoted recall of the facts of the battle. "Benito Juarez" suspended repayment of war debts which led to an invasion by France..."
2. I have also included an English-language, online resource where teachers can find a full account of the Battle of Puebla.
3. Lastly, I created a certificate of participation and appreciation for my students. I will print the word search on the back of the certificate and have students make it a part of the unit materials that they keep in their binders.
This is a simple set of materials but I think that it can be very useful if integrated properly into your current Cinco de Mayo lesson.
