This presentation discusses the history of cinco de mayo, the battle of Puebla, and why people celebrate the day in Spanish with cognates and lots of supporting pictures. It is suitable for all levels, though I created it for a level one (novice mid) class. Vocabulary is sheltered (with support from cognates and pictures); grammar is not (I've used multiple tenses where appropriate).
It includes background information in English in the notes pane. It includes two speaking/writing prompts at the end. I can usually talk through all the info in a 45 minute period, though this depends on the pace that students need. I have also in the past printed the presentation for students who were absent or who need more processing time.
