This small group reader's theater is for four students. Three of the four parts are for boys the last one could be for a boy or a girl. It will work for 3rd graders but they will need some support. In the script, CinderFELLA lives with his two mean and selfish stepbrothers and is forced to do all the work. One day the princess holds a ball and CinderFELLA wishes he could go. His Fairy Godfather hears him and grants the wish but CinderFELLA must run away before midnight. The princess finds his shoe and hunts him down so she can marry him. I recommend you have students do a compare and contrast on Cinderella with this version using a Venn Diagram. They will love it! The best part about this script is that BOYS get a chance to do the fairy tale of Cinderella in a masculine way. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. My scripts are in black and white with only the occasional color photo on front so they are easier and cheaper to photo copy. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and, if you like this script, look for other twisted fairy tales on my site. You can save money by buying them in packs! I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. Let me know how things go!
