This packet includes a section for pre-taught vocabulary, embedded questions and a paragraph writing assignment at the end.
The lesson will start with a powerpoint presentation covering the new vocabulary words. The students are asked to provide a translation and a sentence. I allowed my students to use the sentence from the powerpoint if they could not think of anything.
Once the vocabulary is ccompleted, the students will work their way through reading the simplified version of Cinderella and answering the embedded questions for comprehension in the text.
At the end, they analyze the characters and produce a Schaffer paragraph about what happened in the story. I even included the option of doing a "Puppet Pal" activity which is an app through the Apple Store. It is free and is a great way for ELD students to practice pronunciation.
