Cinquains are a fun and creative way for ESL students to practice the use and relationship of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Cinquains are 5-line poems that follow a simple and structured formula. Once students become familiar with the formula, it becomes a fun and sometimes prolific activity for them. Not only do they become proud of what they have created, they have a better sense of adjectives modifying nouns and adverbs modifying verbs. This packet contains the cinquain formula, a student worksheet and examples. Many other handouts, including this one, are contained in my book, "Let's Look At It This Way!", which is available in my store. It's actually a pretty good deal. For the cost of a few handouts, you get 50+ to reproduce for your instructional and classroom use.
