Description

Looking for a team building cooperative learning opportunity? This is a great communication activity that requires little set-up and materials! This is a great introduction to s STEM classroom!

The basic idea of the Circle of Words Challenge is to take a combination of single words and combine them with other single words to form a common compound word or common phrase…like ‘game day’, ‘ball boy’, ‘background’, etc.

Challenge your students to connect a group of these single words so that in the end there is a continuous circle of words where every two words combined together form a common compound word or 2 word phrase.

Cut up and laminate the words (make several sets if necessary so all groups can start at level 1). I have students work in groups of no more than 10, but 5-6 works best. They are given the mixed up pile of words and then given the challenge.

Example: UP - SIDE - LINE -UP

4 levels of word circles are included, each harder than the other. Level 1 starts with 7 words and level 5 contains 22 words. A reflection piece is also included!

Enjoy!!!
