This activity takes students through a series of questions focused on area and circumference, but also including sectors, systems of equations, graph interpretation, and unit cost. The questions are based on two linked sources -- a real menu from a NJ pizzeria and an article from NPR about pizza value.
These questions are broken down to guide students one step at a time, but for a higher-level group, you may want to cut some of the intermediate questions so they have to figure out a multi-step approach.
The zipped file includes an editable Word document in case you want to adjust any questions, a PDF document, and an answer key.
I have had success with this in class by making it a Google Doc shared with students. With a partner, the students make a copy, access the linked sources online, type their answers right into the Google Doc, and share it back with me. Feel free to reach out to me if you need assistance setting up and sharing a Google Doc.
