This culminating activity for TKAM requires students to choose 12 of the most significant plot driving events from the novel, write an original plot event statement that summarizes or paraphrases the event, and then provide textual evidence which coincides with each event statement. Students then create a "Circle of TKAM" foldable/interactive product which creates high interest and allows for student creativity. This product format also emphasizes the significance of Harper Lee's brilliant "circular" construction of her timeless novel. This activity is also a great way to introduce or reinforce MLA in text citations while students exhibit their TKAM knowledge. Have students add their TKAM circles to their interactive notebooks, or post their final products in your classroom as a way to showcase student work.
