I wrote this set of progressively harder 20 area/circumference questions for my former student and now colleague, Molly, when she asked if I had a circuit on this material. Students will need to know about right triangle trig to work the second two thirds of this circuit so it is perfect for a geometry, algebra two, or precalculus/trig class. A good knowledge of Law of Sines / Law of Cosines would be nice but is not required. The problems would also be good for standardized test prep. If you are in need of a precursor to this circuit, copy and paste this link:
Students will need a calculator to work all of these problems and must their pi button. Final answers will be rounded to the nearest tenth, but students will need to hold higher precision for intermediate values.
I do not include an answer key with any of my circuits since the answers are embedded in the circuit. The only thing the teacher needs to do is work the circuit ahead of the students to determine how best to use it... Guided notes? In class assignment? Out of class assignment? Cooperative work? Etc.
My colleagues and I check our work very carefully but should you ever get stuck or suspect there is a mistake, please do not hesitate to email me at email@example.com.
