Students will be given hands-on experience seeing how the diameter of certain objects affects the circumference of those objects. This handout serves as a guide for students as they record measurements of objects in a table, and then must answer questions about the measurements. In Step 3, students will make a graph showing two lines: the circumference of the objects and the diameter of the same objects. Students will then be able to compare the two lines and see how one changing affects the other. By the conclusion of this handout, students will be able to write the formula for finding the circumference of a circle, simply by exploring how diameter and circumference are related.
