This tracker encourages readers to cite and track text-based evidence to support their answer choices while engaging in texts and responding to questions. To be effective, students must answer each question and cite the evidence to support that answer, while reading each question. They should not answer all the questions then go back and find the evidence as support when done. This tracker allows students to have a second try if they learn their original answer was wrong, which works well as a small group reflection exercise to help them see why their original choice was incorrect and how they can think through it next time for a better outcome. This tracker provides valuable information to teachers so that you can see trends in student reasoning and help realign their thinking process. This supports Common Core standards for citing evidence.
