I adore viewing the world when NASA sends photos from space. While teaching Western Europe/World Geography I came up with this activity. I chose 8 major cities with an image of the cities at night from space. I numbered each city. In groups the students used their geography skills to guess which city matched the image. I got them started by asking them what "black space" might be. The students LOVED this activity! Some cheered when they guessed correctly and others competed with each other to get the most right. This as a fun Friday activity! You can email me and I will give you the "answers" unless you want to guess yourself. This could easily be adapted and students could answer specific geographic questions for a more formal assessment.
