This is a product I created for my students who were having trouble structuring their reading responses. Many students were also having trouble citing text evidence that proved their answers were correct. The two graphic organizers may be used with any reading passages, with any question about the passages.
I typically use one graphic organizer at a time, then give students the "Using the Evidence" response sheet to write their responses in paragraph form (or simply copy the graphic organizer of your choice back to back with the "Using the Evidence" page). Students may check off the R, A, C, E in the margin or underline each piece as they go. I have used these graphic organizers to practice many ELA standards. All you have to do is come up with the question you would like your students to answer!
I also have an anchor chart posted in my classroom that explains and gives sentence starters (some are provided on the "Responding to the Text" graphic organizer) for each part of R.A.C.E. Please let me know if you would like to see how this looks in my room- I would be happy to share! As always, please let me know how this works for you and your students by leaving feedback below. Thank you so much!
