  1. Why is it Important to Vote? 
    1. One page reading over the importance of voting in a democracy. Students will understand the election process and how crucial voting is. 
  2. Critical Thinking- Voting 
    1. After students have read the article on voting they can answer four critical thinking questions that will deepen their understanding of voting in a democracy. Students can answer these questions independently, with a partner, or in a group. Also this can be used as interview questions for students to ask other classmates or people outside the classroom. 
  3. Being a Citizen
    1. Students will read a short passage and answer questions about Rights and Responsibilities as a citizen. Lastly, students will answer two critical thinking questions on being a citizen. 
  4. Letter to the Government 
    1. Students can use their voice by writing a letter to a government official. They can decide on any issue that they care about, research information, and write their letter. 
  5. Get Civically Engaged (Outline- 2 Pages) 
    1. Students can work on this project independently or in a group. This project allows them to investigate an issue in their local community and figure out methods in which they can reduce or stop the issue from happening. Two pages of questions for students to answer. 
  6. Get Civically Engaged Extended Activities (3 Pages) 
    1. After students have developed their outline they can make different products to get other people aware of the issue. Teachers can choose all four products for students to do or pick and choose. The four products include a powerpoint presentation, a speech, T-Shirt design, and an Instagram post. 
  7. Rubric 
    1. Rubric to use for the Civically Engaged Project.
