Set of 5 Citizenship Skills Guided Reading Play Scripts (see Preview for sample texts)
This set of 5 guided reading play scripts, written by Sue Russell, inspired by The Celtics basketball team, in Boston - featuring 17 basketball players, 1 coach, 3 fans, 3 dancers plus mascot - sets out to demonstrate the importance of P.R.I.D.E. (P for positive attitude, R for respect, I for intelligent choices, D for dreams and E for effort/education) and provides the perfect way of demonstrating what it takes to make it in life - the kind of success story all children can aspire to.
It is written to my usual format, with 6 speakers each (about 5 minutes reading time for each plus quiz on the end).
Although basketball players have been used in this script, other sports can easily be inserted - the message is the same for all!
Also available from writer, Sue Russell's website, www.plays-r-ussell.com as class play. The text is almost identical but with the addition of stage directions and suggested music (players' favorite songs!) ... so it would be very easy to practice in class, as guided reading, and then 'transfer over' to a class performance.
