I love mini projects that get my students excited about math, and what better than designing your own city?! In this mini project, students will design their own city by adding buildings onto a coordinate grid and labeling them with ordered pairs.
Included: city planning with a coordinate grid mini-lesson, graph for younger students with one quadrant, graph for older students with four quadrants, and a rubric to score the final product. The mini-lesson will walk you through the steps to review coordinate grids and ordered pairs with your students, and get them started designing their own city. This project is meant to be used after students already have a basic understanding of coordinate grids and ordered pairs.
