This project is based on having mock elections when there is not an election that year. (or you just don't want to do specific candidates on an actual election year)
*For the daily plan and what the teacher would prep, you can purchase the Civics Election Unit Plan. I recommend following Days 1-5 in the plan to make sure students have basic knowledge of political parties, election procedure, propaganda, and interest groups.
You will have students in groups of 3 or 4 and give them (or let them choose) a political party to represent. The groups will choose one member to be the Candidate, one to be the Public Relations/Social Media Manager, and one (or two) to be the Campaign Manager that will create an ad on animoto (free education accounts available for teachers!)
What is inside this document:
> Project Schedule and Directions
> Basic Info Sheet for the students to fill out including their political candidate role as a Senator, their political party, propaganda, and interest groups.
> Specific role sheets for Candidate, Public Relations, and Campaign Manager.
> Campaign Button Template page
*There is an option for students to create their OWN political party. I use this option with my advanced class. If you'd like to opt out of that, just delete the sentences in RED on the directions.
For more authenticity, I recommend creating or purchasing in this store:
> Voter ID Cards
To go along with the project.
