This Civil Conflict Project asks students to research a current, ongoing civil conflict, to prepare a website with what they have learned about the locale, the people, and the source of conflict plus a suggested solution, and to present this project to the rest of the class.
There are different variables that could make this project applicable to different ages and classroom situations. It was originally conceived to follow a study of the American Civil War, comparing the problems and solutions that were historically experienced in that conflict to what was happening around the world. However, it could just as easily be used as an end-of-year project for students to demonstrate their cumulative knowledge and skills, in either Language Arts or History/Political Science classes.
