I was always amazed at the global insights my students shared when exchanging ideas and opinions regarding the problems all humans face. Their solutions were thoughtful and, even beautiful, in their simplicity.
The concept of World Peace is not too big for children to understand and desire, especially if they have loved ones serving in the military away from home. Violence and death are everywhere in their view….
Creating a World Peace Flag is a favorite activity of many youngsters, especially if they are “new” to the United States. You may want to extend the activity into a exploring the different clothing, flags, customs, and languages spoken around the world.
Talk about the many different people who have worked and even given their lives for the sake of peace. Specifically, this month, we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Remind your children their work was for all humans, and not just for people of color.
Use the Big Dreams Idea List to promote the “I Have A Dream” Sequence Hanger activity. Brainstorm a variety of ways to achieve a specific Big Dream.
