This is a set of 12 cards (24 if printed one-sided, though they are designed to be printed two-sided) featuring 12 different African American historical figures. There is a simple, one sentence description for each of the 12 figures and an image with the person's name. I kept the text simple to allow for student reading, and an enrichment activity could include teaching more advanced vocabulary (i.e., abolish) to allow students to rewrite the sentences with those words. I have included a list of ideas for how to use these cards as well as a key so you know which description goes to which person, in case you choose to print them one-sided!
