Included in this independent reading worksheet are civil rights leaders (Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, MLK) and also some historical figures that were anti-segregation (Lester Maddox, George Wallace, Southern Democrats, etc.). Also included are key pieces of legislation that led to the increase in minority political participation (Civil Rights Act of 1957, Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, etc.). As always, there is a reading comprehension section and 5 multiple choice question -- some stimulus based.
