1. Civil Rights Movement Mini Project lets students learn more about an important event or person from the Civil Rights Movement.
It includes:

Student Notes Handout for important person or event (2 pages each)
Project Choice Board for important person or event (1 page each)

2. A Closer Look at Primary Sources directs students to websites for 3 categories of primary sources (Segregation, Non-violent Protests and Reactions, Murders of Till, Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner). Once students examine the primary sources, they choose 1 of 3 assignments to complete.
It includes:
Teacher Instructions (1 page)
Student Handouts (3 pages)
Grading Rubric (1 page)

3. Analysis of Speeches by Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X directs students to speeches to read and/or listen. Students complete an analysis handout and then dig deeper to learn about the context of one of the speeches and write a newspaper article.

Teacher instructions (2 pages)
Speech Analysis Handout (2 pages each for King and Malcolm X)
Website handout (1 page)
Newspaper article assignment (1 page)
