American History Assessment: Civil Rights Movement
This assessment requires students to answer questions based on what they already know about the Civil Rights Movement and what they find in the sources.
Although it can be used in any social studies classroom, this assessment was created for 4th grade Louisiana social studies, and it focuses on the following Louisiana Student Standards:
• 4.1.7 Summarize primary resources and explain their historical importance
• 4.7.1 Identify and summarize significant changes that have been made to the United States Constitution through the amendment process
• 4.8.4 Explain how good citizenship can solve a current issue
It is recommended that teachers use the accompanying DBQ (How Can Citizens Peacefully Change a Nation?) to ensure students have the background information needed for this assessment.
There are two review sections (Citizenship & Geography) included!
