This independent reading activity covers the important Civil Rights Movement court cases including: Miranda v. Arizona, Brown v. Board of Education and Plessy v. Ferguson. Other topics discussed are the Little Rock Crisis and the Little Rock Nine, Orval Faubus's desire to keep schools segregated, JFK's Executive Order for the EEOC promoting fair employment practices, voting rights amendments, and the expansion of minority political participation. In addition to the reading comprehension there are 6 multiple choice questions (some including stimuli).
