Description

This lesson is a thorough introduction to the Civil Rights Movement. You will receive a 17-page PowerPoint and a 4-page student study guide. Topics include: segregation, passive resistance, Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Jackie Robinson, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, freedom rides, March on Washington, KKK, Brown v. Board of Education, Voting Rights Act, Civil Rights Act, and more!

Along with historical detail, this lesson includes pictures and questions designed to encourage discussions. This is a sensitive topic and deserves to be discussed fully. You will appreciate the guided dialogue for your young learners. In addition, there are 12 review questions at the end to be used as informal or formal assessment.

How to use this product:

1. Make a copy of the study guide for each student.

2. Go through the PowerPoint with students, filling in stories and example to fit your SS curriculum. As you talk, students can fill in the blanks on their student guides, ask questions, and add to the discussion.

3. BONUS! Use the review questions at the end either as an informal or formal assessment!
