Many teachers have limited class time and a timeline “project” may not be feasible. This activity provides students with a chart to easily research dates. Then, students can organize the dates into chronological order and use another sheet of paper to make a timeline. Legal paper works well as it is slightly longer than regular copy paper.
You can use this list as prepared or easily edit the rows to emphasize what you covered in your civil rights unit.
If your students have computer access, they can use the Internet to research dates. If not, they can use their textbook and class materials.
