Are you reading The Watsons Go to Birmingham or another Civil Rights era book with your class? Use this 10-page vocabulary packet to help your class learn 11 key vocabulary words pertinent to the era (segregation, racism, lynch, etc.). Students start by using context clues to define the 11 vocabulary words given. Then, each day they have different activities to build fluency and help deepen their understanding of the words (think read to learn activities and political cartoons). The packet is designed to be given on a Monday, but you could easily adjust the days to work with your schedule. Note: the preview only contains a portion of the initial activity. Several activities are not shown.
