On this assignment students must fill in each box on either a person, place, event, or thing from the Civil Rights Movement.
I have done this as an introduction to the unit and have kids look up these items in their textbook or Internet before we start the unit, or use it as a review before a test to write down everything they know. I have also used this as a quick assessment of what they know at the end of a lesson and have them fill in each box as we learn about it.
The topics include:
Brown v Board of Education
Little Rock 9/Little Rock, Arkansas
Montgomery Bus Boycott
Martin Luther King Jr
March on Washington
Civil Rights Act of 1964
Voting Rights Act of 1965
This works great for either Middle or High School. Students can write as little or as much as you request, thus, it can be for almost any grade level.
