This is a simple and easy to use lesson plan. Have your students watch a great 20 minute video on the Battle of Chickamauga and answer the questions. The video is from a series by the Civil War Trust Organization.
The video can also be found on YouTube at:
This video focuses on the major events around the city Chattanooga in 1863 and the climactic Battle of Chickamauga. Students will find the video interesting and engaging. From my perspective this is the best and most student friendly documentary about the bloody Battle of Chickamauga. I suggest pausing the video every five minutes to go over answers with the class and to discuss key points of the campaign. The worksheet has 25 questions and a teacher answer sheet is included. With discussion and answering of questions in class this video worksheet will take about a half hour to complete. This short video goes great with any lecture on the Battle of Chickamauga or setting the stage for Sherman’s March to the Sea in 1864.
