This is a compilation of centers I created for the Civil War. We used them over a period of 3 days, with each center being 15-20 minutes. There is also an introduction and conclusion activity.
For each center, there is a teacher task card/lesson plan, a student task card, and all materials needed for each center.
The following centers are included in this document:
-Introduction activity--BrainPop video on causes of the Civil War with guided notes
-Teacher led center--advantages/disadvantages for the North and South
-Timeline of Important Battles
-Picture Gallery--look at primary source photos and make inferences
-"Facebook" page for important Civil War leaders
-Slavery or No Slavery--read about different opinions related to slavery, and decide if they would vote for slavery or not. Then make a poster convincing others to vote that same way.
-Closing activity--discussion of what they learned through the centers.
Many of the centers also have modified texts/assignments for students who may need additional support (I used them for my ELL and Resource students).
If you need anything else to go along with these centers, just let me know!
