My students did the escape room I made on Reform Movements and they wanted more, so I created this one on the Civil War. They loved it! I bought a bag of chips for the prize and they were off to the races learning and having fun. It made the class come to life!
This escape room can either be done with a google form (link included) or on pencil and paper. It requires minimal coping and cutting (four puzzles and one sorting activity) but should take too much of the teacher's time.
What's in the Escape Room?
(1) A worksheet that covers Union States, Confederate States, People associated with the Union and people associate with the Confederacy.
(2) A sequencing activity that covers all the major events of the war: Fort Sumter, Bull Run, Antietam, Emancipation Proclamation, Vicksburg, Gettysburg and Appomattox
(3) The four causes of the Civil War
(4) STAAR released question on the civil war.
This is aligned to the 8th grade TEKS, but I also did it with my 7th graders and they loved it. Just make sure you taught the information above.
