I created this product for my students with Autism who are performing well below grade level. It can be used as an activity, a review, or an assessment. The 8th grade Social Studies Curriculum covers the Civil War and I needed to modify the content to make it easier to understand the key details. I chose some of the main events from the beginning to the end of the war. Students need to put the events in chronological order, match pictures to the events, and include the dates. I made separate versions for different students in my class. One version has the events and pictures together. Another has all three separate. For the easiest version, I put the events in order and have the students match the pictures to the events. For others, I put the pictures and events in order. The students just add the dates. For this version, they just need to be able to put the dates in order. I connected two file folders together and made two or three columns of Velcro, depending on the task. I laminated all of the cards cut from the PowerPoint and gave students the pieces they needed to complete the task. I have included the directions I give my students. They do much better with written directions. The directions pages also tell the slides you will need for each version of the task.
