This test should be given at the end of a Civil War unit. It contains three sections. "Part 1: Key People and Terms" features five questions requiring content knowledge. "Part 2: Source Analysis" asks students to determine whether each source is primary or secondary and give a reason. "Part 3: Document Analysis" requires students to analyze three primary source documents and answer two questions about each.
The exam is a good assessment for seventh grade, but it can also easily be modified for high school American History classes.
